3rd Party Gluten free Certification organizations

There are 3rd party organizations that test and certify that manufacturing facilities and products meet the FDA’s regulation of containing less than 20ppm (parts per million) of gluten. These organizations can be trusted. All the companies that are certified follow strict protocols and are audited annually.

Gluten Free Certification Organization (GFCO) from Gluten Intolerance Group (GiG).

GiG tests for <10ppm. Link to the GFCO manual.

This is the old and new GFCO gluten free mark. GFCO made the switch for international trademark reasons, which means that more brands around the world will be able to be certified and carry the label on their products.

The green is the US mark and the blue is the Canadian mark.

Gluten Free Food Program (GFFP) backed by The National Celiac Association

They test for <5ppm. Link to the GFFP testing guide.

Association of European Coeliac Societies (AOECS) the umbrella organization for more than 30 gluten free certifying European organizations across multiple regions.

AOECS tests for <20ppm.

Each country’s organization uses the crossed-out grain image but they can look slightly different, organization to organization.
